Quick Charge 3.0 claims to improve efficiency by 38% compared to the previous generation, with a fast charging speed of up to 27%, while helping to protect the battery life cycle.
According to Qualcomm, Quick Charge 3.0 adopts the Intelligent Negotiation for Optimal Voltage (INOV) algorithm for the first time, which can achieve optimal power transmission at any time and maximize efficiency.
It is understood that Quick Charge 3.0 can charge a typical phone from zero to 80% in approximately 35 minutes, while traditional mobile devices without Quick Charge typically take about an hour and a half. Compared to the two generations of products:
1. Compared to Quick Charge 2.0, it can increase fast charging speed by up to 27% or reduce power loss by up to 45%.
2. Charging speed twice faster than Quick Charge 1.0.
In terms of charging voltage, Quick Charge 2.0 provides four levels of charging voltage: 5V, 9V, 12V, and 20V, while Quick Charge 3.0 offers a flexible selection of voltages from 3.6V to 20V in increments of 200mV. This will allow the phone to obtain the appropriate voltage, achieve the expected charging current, thereby minimizing battery loss, improving charging efficiency, and improving thermal performance.
In addition, Quick Charge 3.0 is compatible with previous versions of Quick Charge and chargers (including USB Type-C) in both forward and backward directions, and has the same ultra fast charging speed and independent circuitry, providing OEM manufacturers with more flexible choices, as well as UL certification to help meet quality and safety standards.
The first batch of processors to support Quick Charge 3.0 technology include Snapdragon 820, Snapdragon 620, Snapdragon 618, Snapdragon 617, and Snapdragon 430, with terminals expected to be launched next year. Moreover, the mobile power supply with QC3.0 fast charging technology will soon be launched.
Qualcomm QC3.0 has also brought many improvements: enhanced flexibility on the basis of QC2.0, especially in terms of charging options. In QC2.0, four charging voltages of 5V, 9V, 12V, and 20V are provided, while in QC3.0, 200mV increments are used as one level, providing a range from 3.6V
Flexible selection of 20V voltage. This will allow the phone to obtain the appropriate voltage, achieve the expected charging current, thereby minimizing battery loss, improving charging efficiency, and improving thermal performance.
QC3.0 has also been upgraded on the certification icon, with the addition of the Arabic numeral 3 in the upper right corner.
